Here was have something truly not found every day.
In July of 1912 with a full two-page spread in the Talking Machine World, Mr. Edison exhibited a line-up of “new” disc phonographs. Manufactured in the same recording style as the cylinders that preceded them, the Edison Disc Phonograph played vertical-cut disc records. Most disc records of the day were lateral-cut. Therefore, along with the introduction of his new line-up of disc phonographs he naturally introduced the Edison disc. It was not until October 1913 that Edison went into full production and created a commercial list of Edison discs. During 1912 and most of 1913 discs were pressed in limited numbers. Edison discs produced during this period were enclosed in a presentation box.
Today I offer Edison disc 80038 in its original presentation box. Due to the limited original production quantities, these boxes and discs are seldom found. The record in this box is in excellent condition, which is also seldom found. Edison still was refining in his production process and discs produced in this period have a common tendency to crack radially along the surface.
The price is $225.00 plus shipping to you. No PayPal on this, but checks are fine.
