Have any members conducted experiments with their own tone tests?
Last night I conducted an experiment with 4 guests.
The machines played were the Edison B-19 (with standard reproducer)
Victor VV-XI tabletop with Exhibition reproducer.
Both reproducers were rebuilt and both machines sit on opposing sides of the room.
I played two selections on each:
Edison DD Star Spangled Banner
Victor Batwing Star Spangled Banner
Edison DD Just a Memory
Victor Just a Memory
All guests were blindfolded and after both selections were played were told which sounds better and why?
All four seem to say that the Edison Diamond Disc machine sounded better. I was told that the bands actually sounded like they were in the room with them on the Just a Memory recording.
Have any other members experimented with this?
