FOR SALE: VICTOR VI $3800

For sale: Victor VI in very good original condition $3800. Serial No. 6541. The case is solid and has not been refinished. It may not need refinishing depending on your taste. The back bracket retains most of its original stripping. Gold plating has worn from the speed control and there is no plating on the knurled screws that hold the back bracket. The motor runs strong and smooth. No horn/elbow. The photos pretty accurately describe this fine phonograph. Insured shipping would be in a single carefully packed box. Plus shipping.

Hi There! Can you please tell me whether the motor board is slightly warped on this? It appears to be by looking at the first three pictures unless it's just me. No denigration or criticism intended or implied. I'm simply in the market for a decent original Victor VI that is priced fairly but I can't tell for certain by the pictures.

There is a mild concave warp N & S on the motor board. No warp E & W
as you face the phonograph. The needle in place is ½" short from
the center record spindle. Does not affect play or function.

If it's ½" short of the spindle, I would be concerned that it might have a Victor III/IV back bracket. Also, is it just my eyes or is the edge of the turntable gold plated? It should be nickel plated. Thanks, Jerry Blais

the nickel plated turntables were pretty standard for a lot of early internal and external horn machines that used the bullet/barrel brake, whether or not the rest of the hardware was gold plated, because of the wear the brake style would cause to the gold plating.

The turntable on my Vic VI is nickel. So mismatched or not, it is common. My machine came from the original owners grandson so I know it is correct. Not saying the didn't offer one in gold though.

I believe when the brake rubbed on the outer edge of the turntable, the turntable was nickel plated. Nickel plating was more durable than gold. Jerry Blais

Every Victor VI, mine included, had a nickel plated turn table. I agree with Jerry B., that a nickel plated turntable was standard, not gold. I have a feeling this was plated gold at a later time over the nickel plate.
