Any presentations at Union this year?

Post by Dustie89 »

I know last year at Union there were presentations after the show. Does anyone know if there are any this year?

If I am allowed, and some of you bring instruments, maybe we can have a wax cylinder session with the studio recorder, and QA talk. I would though need a good playback machine, the recording machine has a special carriage and does not have the playback carriage on it.

Yes, the Antique Phonograph Society has arranged for a presentation on Friday June 10 after the Dealer/Early Buyer day closes. The details have been posted on the APS web site here:

...And also on this Forum here:

It would be amazing to do the recording demonstration. I have done a few and just got a contract to come to our area schools and start doing presentations for class rooms. Regardless it would be a great experience to see a factory recorder and workings.

Thank you Paul. I really enjoyed the presentations last year. I am a Edison buff and it sounds like this presentation will help me in my research.

Thanks

You're welcome, Dustin. :)

The 2015 APS banquet presentation included a live cylinder recording with professional musicians. The results were filmed and are quite impressive. This is available on a DVD from the APS here:

See you at Union - -
