Electric Motors

Post by billybob62 »

Do we have members who restore and add appropriate wiring on electric motors for a fee?
Thanks.

This may be a topic many of us would like to know. I understand that motors can also be rewound with new type wire insulation allowing a greater number of turns which allow the motors to run cooler.
Best to all,
Allen

Thanks Allen.
Do any of you send motors out to have electrical work done on them, bring them up to standard modern electrical code or just for safety's sake, then, especially with young children around?
Thanks to all for reading this.

I have used Rick Taylor at the site below before. He replaced the crumbling wiring in the motor in my Garrard motor that is in my EMG machine. The price was ridiculously low and he was a great guy to deal with, not to mention super fast.

As far as replacing wiring in something like a Victor induction or universal motor, you can buy cloth covered wire from sundial wire and do it yourself, it isn't really that difficult.

Hope this is of some help!

Where is Rick located? I can't find an address on the site.

Here is where I sent my electric motor from my Columbia Grand Grafonola. They did a great job cleaning, re-wiring, and installing new brushes.
