eBay: Edison Standard - Purposeful Misrepresentation

Post by stevenhman »

I believe that this eBay seller is purposefully misrepresenting this item (a.k.a. liar, liar, pants on fire): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gorgeous-Edison ... 2191562328
Beautiful Edison Standard Phonograph in tiger oak. Works perfectly. Includes original Edison 14" cone horn, model C 2-minute reproducer, cylinder cleaning brush. Reproducer & motor have been completely rebuilt. Looks & plays A+++. Thanks for looking!
Incorrect mandrel/shaft, missing bearing blocks, no belt pulley , no bedplate screws, the "Model c reproducer" looks like a recorder body with no stylus, and who knows what all else is wrong/missing. I don't see how the seller can justify 80% of this ad.

Wait, what?? :?: "Plays A++"? How -- there's no belt, nor any way to attach one, so what turns the mandrel? And I don't see any type of stylus on the "rebuilt" reproducer (which is a recorder). Maybe he should post a video to show how well it plays. ;)

I could be willing to chalk it up to ignorance except for his claim that it works perfectly and plays A+++. Does he even know what this is or what it is supposed to do?? And a $199 opening bid with a RESERVE!!!
