Actually it looks quite interesting, especially from a didactic standpoint. Anyone can look and see the governor spinning, the barrel and wheels turning, the internal horn. My kids would have been much more attracted to that than to the drab old dark cabinets that produce old-fashioned music in my gramophone room.

When RCA Victor was making players for 45s, they made a few of each model in clear plastic as dealer demos. These are now considered highly collectible.

I'd do it out of tempered plate glass. Metal connectors, through bolts with felt washers. Polished glass edges.....the way it would have been done back then. By skilled craftsmen.

A company called Kurtzmann also made a glass machine. Even the turntable was glass.
