The reproducer is an aftermarket one to play lateral records.

I enlarged the photo of the platter and noticed two buttons on the side 10 & 12, and it appears from the screws on either side of the platter that there is some sort of mechanism over the motor. Never seen this on an Edison...........

Hi Bill- The 10/12 buttons are simply a device that helps with the placement of the stylus for each size record. When you push the "10" and swing the reproducer toward the record, it will stop (supposedly) at the correct spot to lower the reproducer for a 10" record-- Same for the "12"-- It stops where the reproducer should be lowered for a 12" record.

The buttons appear to have been introduced around 1922, when Edison was considering introducing 12 inch discs. I have an early BC-34 (same model as the CL machine) that has them.

I called on this machine thought I'd pick it up as a project. Lady said she posted it by mistake and her hubby plans on restoring it. Can you say BAR :)
Think I'll quit checking CL. Have a good holiday....
