The Gramophone (May, 1935): Jubilee articles of interest

Post by beaumonde »

I have many '20s-'30s issues of The Gramophone in my collection (fascinating reading), including a mint copy of issue No. 1 from 1923; however probably the most interesting I've come across is a large part of the May, 1935 issue devoted to George V's Silver Jubilee year. I've scanned two juxtaposed articles dealing with, firstly, a (distinctly Anglocentric) history of the gramophone since 1910...and then a symposium posing several questions, to various well-known (at the time) personages, concerning their personal gramophonic influences. pp. 7-8 also include a graphic history of the gramophone (I necessarily had to split the adjoining pages). Hope you find these interesting!
