Edison crank medallions

I've never seen a Concert crank with a medallion, but a number of cranks from Homes and a few from Spring Motors.

I'm not sure I like the idea of these medallions being made available to tack on any crank. Such practices will surely make the job of researchers more difficult!

I'll agree with that... how many collectors will enhance their machines with one of these because it's "cool"? Before long it'll be very murky as to what exact machines actually came with these, and the few left without will either become "rare" or "repros"...

Some may laugh but my "day job" is classic German car restoration and you'd be surprised how often this happens. A good example is the "factory" VW air cooled Beetle two- tone paint schemes that became popular in the 1970s... only no Beetle ever left the factory like this.

Interesting! I've restored a few VWs over the past 50 years, including 2 1950 Hoffman-sold Beetles. Here's my current ride, a '54 painted with admittedly incorrect 1949-1950 'Bordeaux Red'. I just love that color.

I think I could live with the wrong color in that case. So are you also on that world famous VW site? I'm actually a Type 3 and 34 specialist. One of my personal projects is a Mercedes Fintail 300SE sedan that I am torn between Dark Bordeaux Red and Bluegreen as the body finish. The car originally classic white with a royal blue interior.

To keep this on topic, VW Squarebacks and Mercedes Heckflosse sedans are most excellent phonograph rescue vehicles.

Durn it I just brought an original for $350.00. I hope it is an original... Tom B
