I was following the thread to on the Columbia AT Restoration. I wanted to see the step by step video on the restoration. I was locked out. I went to register because I never did this before. I am already a member of APS, and don't want to pay another $30.00? How can I make this work for computer illiterates like me. Step by step instructions will be great. I really would like to see this video and others.

I agree.
An explanation would be welcomed for those who are already a member of APS.

Well, that didn't take long!Phonofreak wrote:I was following the thread to on the Columbia AT Restoration. I wanted to see the step by step video on the restoration. I was locked out. The APS web site has added approximately 10,000 (yes, ten thousand) pages of material to its on-line archives. These materials were scanned, one page at a time, throughout the summer by a few generous volunteers. Now - as promised - all this material is about to be made available to every Antique Phonograph Society member. This morning, portions of the web site went into a "test" phase.
Several members have been contacted and asked to wander through the web site, look over some of the materials for a few days, and let the APS know if anything's not working as it should. The idea is to deliver a seamless web site experience to the membership.
However, until it's certain that any "bugs" have been spotted and fixed, there will be areas of the web site that will be unavailable. This may take a few days, but the APS appreciates your patience. Once our IT gurus are satisfied that everything's working, every APS member (for whom we have an email address) will receive an email with instructions on how to log in and set a personal password.
This "Members Only" archive will be expanded often with scans of original documents from members' collections. I would expect the amount of material to grow significantly over the next year or two.
Much of the previously existing web site will still be available to non-members and newbies. Part of the organization's mission is public education and attracting new people to the hobby. There will, however, be a huge new archive reserved for "Members Only."
So - - the short answer is that APS members don't need to do anything. They will be receiving instructions soon!

Awesome! Looking forward to it

I viewed the video the other night, but had to set my password (I'm not sure I had set one up before).
I hope it will be the same now.
Update: works fine for me.
Try entering your email address; and if you don't have a password already, get one.

I envy you computer-savvy guys.
I still haven't been able to log on, but Vice-President Rod Pickett (another computer-savvy guy) just sent me instructions. I was using the wrong password...
Thanks for the feedback so far. Please let us know of any gremlins you may find.
Best to all,
George P.

Still can't get in. I hope this will eventually be working, or to me it will be a dead link and a waste of time.

Hmmm... Perhaps I'm not being clear.
1) The site is being significantly expanded.
2) This will take some time - - probably several days.
3) Please be patient - -the site WILL be up and running again soon, with much much more material.
