I was looking for old techniques to calibrate my RPM's and started looking for a "strobe" app for my phone..
well instead I found an app that literally measures your turtable RPM's by using your smartphone built in sensors ..

I've been using my Android handheld (Moto X 2nd gen) for a couple of years, to calibrate my various turntables.
The only issue is that the device needs to be used with some kind of non-sliding manner, or it will fly off your turntable!
