WANTED: Edison Cylinder Phonograph (donation or cheap price)

Post by erinescence »

Hello,
I am a young collector - almost 17 years old - and I have been on the lookout for a 2/4 minute Edison cylinder phonograph with an external horn for well over a year. If at all possible, I prefer the machine to include a reproducer and/or horn!

I have always adored old music, especially music from the turn of the century. I would like to continue helping to preserve these machines and records by expanding my collection to include a cylinder phonograph and the appropriate cylinders.

I have been collecting 78s for almost a year, and am a proud, 4th-generation owner of a Columbia Grafonola that has been in my paternal family since c. 1915. Since my father passed the machine down to me for my 16th birthday, I (with the advice and help of other collectors) have worked on the motor and tonearm multiple times in order to improve the sound and playback qualities. I am proud to say that I have successfully restored both to their original, working condition, and use the machine frequently.

I would be eternally grateful if a fellow collector would donate or sell a machine to me!

Hopefully you will find a reasonable deal. If you need a cylinder record or two to get started, send me a PM.
I was a teenager when I started in the hobby and admire your interest and desire to help preserve history!
