How to access the You Tube Search Bar on my Channel?

Post by larryh »

I didn't realize till someone ask me that there is no way to search my channel of Acousticedison. He noted that most other you tube channels its right above the videos along with some other links in a row. I have searched my site and tried to google to find the clue to what adds that line but so far no luck. If anyone knows what I am talking about and can give a layman explanation of how to find the link that access that I would be grateful.

He did say he figured out a work around of adding the channel name and then the type of music he was looking for and that seemed to work, as he called it "a work around".

I searched you Tube help and found this. Hope it helps.

The search box is only available in the "Uploads" category of your channel, and is there by default with no way to remove it. Your channel only has "Favorites" on it and not "Uploads", therefore you don't get a search box. After all, it's not exactly possible to "search" non-existent videos on your channel.

Thats more than I knew before but somewhat confusing. I upload everything to you tube so not sure what I need to have set different in order to made that search bar work? Favorites as the format is a surprise to me, I will have to look at the site closely again to see if I can understand that but I wouldn't bet on it.

thanks

You need to go to
http://www.youtube.com/user/"yourusername"/videos
then there's a search channel button that has an edit box under it.
I'm totally blind and use a screan reader, so it might be different for a sighted person. Why not try it on my channel?
http://www.youtube.com/user/djoutrage18/videos
then see if your uploads page looks the same.

Thanks for trying to help but when I open my full set of videos as yours are shown here that line with the magnifying glass at the end isn't present and I can't see anything but the normal search bar which works for all of You Tube. I am going to have to find someone out here in the boonies that has some clue as to how to set that in place. I have looked and looked and I hate clicking on something that ends up not being what I needed. Its pretty obvious I don't have a brain for computers, but then maybe thats a good thing I always liked simplicity so it kept me interested in mechanical sound most of my life.

Very Strange. This morning I opened my You Tube site find a new layout with the search bar for my listings now also present. To my knowledge I didn't change anything but it might be that I sent a question to You Tube and someone there added it? One time when I requested an issue resolved they actually did solve it from the management side. Still its a puzzle.

I see a possible answer but not sure of the way You Tube functions. I note that this morning I hit 100 subscribers, that may trigger the extra features to the site?
