RARE Nazi Record - Patria Picture Disc

Post by Curt A »

I have never seen this record, but it looks like it was made at the same time as the Hitler picture disc... Interesting only as a historical artifact, although I wouldn't want to hang it on my wall... or have it in my house. It even has its original sleeve...

It's a German march on one side and on the other "An die Hitler Jugend" (To the Hitler youth). The picture shows some very happy brainwashed children...

I'm surprised EBay doesn't kick it off - anything Nazi they seem to give the boot to - stating it's not allowed. Happened to a friend of mine last year selling a Nazi item he bought at a flea market (a Nazi red & black arm band) Unless they changed their policy?

I am not sure if this kind of disc is rare. They were produced by the millions, but since their trade is forbidden in Germany, my guess is that people keep them in cupboards. Every now and then records of the Kaiser and Hindenburg speeches show up for trade: WWI propaganda material is not prohibited. Nazi material is probably being traded under the wraps, especially with the increase in number of extreme-rightwingers all over Europe. The curious part is that Fascist material can be freely traded in Italy, from feathered uniform hats to records of Mussolini speeches, and propaganda from the Vichy regime is also traded in France.

I think it is because the ad itself does not mention the N word, so the automatic controls at ebay cannot catch it. An offended reader could file a complaint, though.

Here's a question - what about post-Nazi items? Particularly a 5-record set from the Nürnberg trials. I've been curious about the value and possible sale-ability of this one since finding it at an estate sale, and there hasn't been anything of the sort on ebay in the three years I've been looking. Could that be because it's prohibited, rather than particularly rare?

The Nürnberg trials shouldn't be a problem on eBay, since it is dealing with the punishment delivered to the perps... not sure how interesting the records are.
