Is it a fibre or brass gear?

Post by Victrolacollector »

I noticed on my VV-XI tabletop machine that the motor has a a couple gears that appear to be made of fibre (the bull gear and spindle gear that drives the governor). They look brownish in color and feel like a fibre material, are these fibre or brass?

It would be best to post pictures with your questions like this.

Aside from very early Victor stuff, I know of no fiber gears used by them. The gears you describe, in my experience, have always been brass.

I've never seen a VV-XI tabletop motor with anything but brass gears.
