Re: nipper
I don't believe he's very old. I started seeing that knock off sometime around 2000. I've always thought of there version as the "dopey Nipper". Jerry Blais

Re: nipper
I suspect they have 40 years confused with 40 months.
If it's cheap and you like it, you should buy it. I'd be interested in other opinions. To all you Nipper lovers out there... Jerry Blais

Don't you have any pictures of the bottom? Most of the one's I've seen that I know are old are paper mache, but there are variations on that I'm sure.

Re: nipper
Maple Leaf Music in Brattleboro Vermont had one of these ceramic Nippers in the window more than 25 years ago. I don't think that the ceramic Nippers were ever Victor or Victrola displays, but I do not know. I do know that they can be more than 25 years old, so maybe 40 is not a stretch. They still display nicely and would at least have a decorative value.

Re: nipper
Looks like an old one to me. I'm doubting that it's ceramic. The finish looks more like the painted paper-mache style, which would be an original.
