Hi all,
The C-19 of my previous post(key hole escutcheon) was just delivered. The serial number I had reported is not correct it is C-19 173988 not 173899. The horn above the bass plate has gold tone stripes longitudinally along the top and each side interspersed with gun metal blue stripes and I therefore think it originally had a gun metal reproducer. As I said it came with a nickel plated one A 250224 NS a new standard Edisonic type which I will replaced with either NS6802 a new standard Edisonic type and, or,E 57817 with a lighter weighted stylus both of which are of the same finish as the horn. The later of the two repacement reproducers was rebuilt with a new stylus and diaphragm by Steve Medved the former is I believe NOS. The grill cloth, I was told is original, is in very good condition and seems to be black with light tan or gold over stitching over the black. I do not know for a fact that this is the original cloth it seems unlikely though my 1926 Borgia II has is original cloth but it is protected by a door, It has record slots 1-72, a gold tone circular disc in the front left corner "Diamond Disc, Official Laboratory, model.,ThosA Edison, in the back right corner of the bed plate in print "TRADE", in script "Thomas A Edison", in print "MARK". The label on the right inside vertical case in black print Edison ,No.19, cabinet factory, form 2430, and stamped in blue ink at 90 degrees to the black print is F 13 S.
The trade mark on the back right corner of the bed plate above and below the signature is not in larger size type than the signature but is in cap letters.
I would like to know how to get the gold tone disc out to clean it but do not want to damage it in the process. If some one knows how to do this, I would be all ears.
I have the gearing to convert the C-19 to long play and three long play records but need a long play reproducer.
I also have a new old stock conversion kit but do not want to use it. the reproducer from this NOS kit has been with Steve and he is in the process of trying to get his stylus manufacturer to duplicate the long play stylus.
Best to all and thanks in advance for any input.
Please contact me for any additional information.
Sincerely,
Allen
