Oregon is such a wonderful state. Not only are there friendly collectors but the natural scenery is beautiful. DeeDee is not going to Union with me this year so we decided to spend a day antiquing and enjoying the sights on the Oregon Coast.

- Newport Oregon - About every coastal community was built where a river entered to Pacific. Prior to bridge construction, travel along the coast was limited and depended on tide cards and ferries. It was not practical. The construction of the brides was done in the 1930's as part of the New Deal. Coastal bridges were a bid deal and my grandparents visited most of the ribbon cutting that opened the coastal bridges.

Re: 2017 Union Trip & Reason To Visit Oregon
Those of you that thought the little BMW would not be a good phono car are wrong! Take a look at the photos. I loaded a Suitcase Home, 4 clip Standard, Columbia AJ, table model Grafonola, and four horns in that little car. Of course there was no room for DeeDee so I bought her a bus ticket back to Albany.
Three of these machines will be at Union. I thought I could get a premium price because each machines has gone 100mph! That little car has a 300+ hp twin turbo engine and 100mph just begins to touch its performance level. How many Suitcase Homes have gone that fast? Unfortunately DeeDee was not in the car to take a photo of the speedometer. Remember, she was on the bus.

Re: 2017 Union Trip & Reason To Visit Oregon
Well, Jerry was off picking up new machines at the same time I was heading from Manzanita to Albany so we could leave for our Union adventure the next morning. Friday morning we left Albany about 6am and picked up Stan in Salem where he and his wife stayed in a motel the night before. We then drove from Albany, OR to Pocatello, ID via secondary highways across Oregon to the Idaho border where we connected with Interstate 84. We drove 700 or so miles and it took us 14 hours! We were exhausted.
Jerry had a big warning for Stan to make sure he will behave on our big trip across the states.

Jerry's Bat is really scary, but the arm is fake news (no sprain), just wishful tattoos! Pics from eastern Oregon and the Lincoln Highway. Click on Lincoln and he might turn upright........... Only a few more days to Union. See you all there and maybe there will be more posts if I can get out of Jail!

Hey Jerry, How about showing pictures of the truck, trailer with inside and outside shots. Also include dimensions and how you pack and transport these treasures. This will be great to show new collectors how your transporting service works. Interesting travel-log. Keep us posted on more exciting adventures to Union.

Sunday we started in Western Nebraska and moved across to the east. Not too much scenery, just lots of this.

Re: 2017 Union Trip & Reason To Visit Oregon
Lots of miles today from Sidney, KS to Grand Island, NE south to the world's largest ball of sisal twine in Cawker City, KS and east to Clay Center, KS. It was a fun day with tourist stops at Fort Cody, NE and, of course, the huge ball of twine. We antiqued at Grand Island where I suffered abuse for buying a bicycle. Bicycles take up space better used for phonos or so I hear. I also found a reasonably priced Vogue picture record. Tomorrow I pick up a craigslist Victor project machine and a record cabinet in Clay Center.
