For sale is an Edison Automatic reproducer that was “upgraded” by the Edison dealer Pardee-Ellenberger, of New Haven, CT. I've included a picture of their office building in this listing. They were a well known dealer.

Modifications to this reproducer allowed the use of a special embossed fiber diaphragm. The side-arm screws have been filed down, as the diaphragm is installed without the use of rubber gaskets, so extra clearance is needed to further tighten threaded locking ring. The special fiber diaphragm itself is embossed: "PARDEE-ELLENBERGER - NEW HAVEN CONN." Additionally, the Edison-provided top plate has been replaced with ta domed top plat that has a reduced sound aperture. Finally, the stylus weight has an additional weight bonded to it. Included is the original wooden box to hold it, with original cotton fiber packing.

This super reproducer presents and plays exceptionally well. It comes in the original wooden box with cotton packing. Note that this Edison Automatic has NOT been "nothched." It can only be used on carriages meant for Automatics. This is one of the harder to find variations of Edison reproducers. Most companies that modified Edison reproducers were sued out of existence. Pardee-Ellenberger survived a long time. However, this is the only example of one of their reproducers that I have ever come across.
