Saw this on CL this afternoon - exchanged emails with the seller and he just called me and we arranged a time tomorrow morning. Said spring is weak and the horn could use some repainting....for the price hey..... I've been through this CL stuff before and all I can do is cross my fingers Cheers

Yes very nice photo. I ran up to Manassas, Va. this morning and bought the machine for $25. Nothing missing and the horn does not have a ding anywhere. It does not wind up as the elderly seller said on the phone. Here are a few photos I took. Guess I'll take a look inside tonight and see what it needs. Cheers
Congratulations on a great find. The Gem is clearly a model C, but I don't recall ever seeing a model C with single gold stripes like found on A and B models. I always thought the differences between the B and C models was the C had no end gate and was equipped with more decorative double gold stripes like on the later models D and E. I assume this is a very early example of a C...and am curious if others have seen model Cs with single gold stripes.
