Re: Someone needs to save this!
My opinion is that there are too many unwanted phonographs in the world today.
I am going to bust up this one at the end of the weekend. It has been listed a week.

There just isn't the interest there used to be in old things.

Skihawx = Your machine looks like a decent restoration for someone just starting off in the hobby. If I were closer ( NJ ) I would bring it home and donate it.

Don't trash it, the market is just currently in a bad state, and demand is at a low. This would be a great restoration project for a young/newbie collector, and could start someone off. Before you throw it away, you should try to give it away. There need to be more younger people getting into the hobby, and you could help that.Skihawx wrote:My opinion is that there are too many unwanted phonographs in the world today.

Please don't trash it. Take it to your local Goodwill store and donate it. Or, give it to a local, "small town", museum. They love this stuff. Maybe a grade school music class? I have donated several to my church's annual festival rummage sale. They somehow get hundreds of dollars for them! At the very least, set it out in front of your house on collection day. Somebody will snag it.

I agree... there is NO market for phonographs... So, I'm hoping someone will throw away one of those old worthless Class Ms and let me know...

Re: Someone needs to save this!
How many of you have infinite space to store low value machines that you can't GIVE AWAY? I highly doubt any of you.
Think about it. I gave away 3 machines to a younger kid in my area and wanted to give him MORE until his parents said "no more". I asked him if there was anyone else he knew who'd want them. No. I ended up trashing the cabinets that were a wreck anyway and keeping the parts. What else do you expect someone to do when you can't give something away that really isn't worth saving? I still have a few cabinets to gut and I welcome ANYONE to come and get them before I do. Don't all line up and PM me all at once!
Think about that before you respond....
