Cirola differences

Post by jboger »

In response to a request for photos, here pics of two Cirolas. From the photos that follow you can see differences in hardware, number of screws to secure the motor board (6 vs 4), name plates, position of name plates, cranks, and spindle. The Cirola has a side compartment into which one puts the tonearm and crank for storage. Not illustrated is this compartment. But the six-screw model has a clip inside to secure the crank. The other simply has a hole to slide one end of the crank through--less secure.

The cranks have the same threads, just different diameters. This is handled by an insert inside the crank escutcheon. Other small differences exist. I suspect Cirola made none of the parts and relied on suppliers for everything. This would mean that Cirola was an assembly shop. Note that the octagonal name plate only lists Philly, whereas the other cites NY, Paris, and London.

Later I will take photos of the motors. They differ as well although both are Heinemans.
