An HMV 102D: Date code B over 5 – presumably 1941, before the cessation of production in the summer of that year.
It needs some work to make it look nice.
The external rexine is very darkened, and has some marked scuffs, a small splash of paint, and is generally in need of cheering up.
The little rubber feet are missing, or gone hard and squashed, but should be easily replaced.
Felt on platter has pulled away at edges and needs re-gluing
Some scuffing to interior of horn.
On the other hand it’s got a number of positive points:
Good tidy 5B sound box – though diaphragm needs a good dust.
The correct winder
Nice clean green felt on platter
Auto-brake works properly.
Internal chrome work all nice and shiny
Motor runs steadily, with only the occasional HMV grunt.
External chrome work decent, with only minor blemishes.
Carrying handle fine.
And it’s green.
