SOLD: 1903 Pathé Coquet 2 Min Cylinder Phonograph - $500

Post by HisMastersVoice »

This is a very, very nice Coquet. Walnut cabinet has original finish and gorgeous flawless decals. Beautiful green bedplate with nice pin-striping and French labels for start/stop & speed. Belt appears to be original and in good condition. Horn is the original spun aluminum horn. Single-spring motor plays through a cylinder with ease, and then some. Motor is clean and has been lubricated and runs great. Reproducer is a reproduction, but is visually correct. For better sound and volume, you can use a Columbia floating reproducer which fits on this machine perfectly. The original Pathé floating reproducers never sounded fantastic either. Included with the machine are 2 Pathé 2M wax cylinders in their original boxes - hard to come by in the USA. Cabinet measures approximately 10x7x11 and horn is approximately 9x11. I can easily ship this machine (at buyers expense, which shouldn't be terribly costly given the small size). I can also hold and deliver the machine to the fall Stanton auction, or if you are a particularly patient person...Union. I plan to take some better photos later.
