Mabel McKinley, niece of William McKinley (25th US President) recorded "Anona" on Edison Wax Amberol #150. In spite of having one leg considerably shorter than the other, Mabel McKinley enjoyed a wonderful life and was a gifted soprano. The song she sings on this cylinder is about "Anona", an "Indian Maid" from Arizona. The cylinder is quite scarce and this one has its original titled lid and box. The cylinder has the normal Wax Amberol greyish appearance but the surface is hazy and I suspect it has been exposed to mildew over the years. The cylinder plays through fine with background surface noise and several clicks and pops.
I have no idea of value on this cylinder so if you feel it may be of interest to you send me a PM with what you feel is a fair offer to both of us. It's not my type of music and playing it once through was enough for me as I don't care for soprano solos. But I can appreciate Mabel's connection to William McKinley and the relative scarcity of the cylinder. And the song lyrics are enjoyable reminding me of other early "Indian Maid" recordings. Thanks.
Doug
