Hey... I think this looks really nice.
I contacted them, they said lots of interest but no one coming through. They also didn't mention a price when I asked.
Not looking to pick up new machines... but this one is pretty wild.
FROM THE AD:
STEGER & SONS PHONOGRAPH, HAND PAINTED FLORAL DESIGN
Steger & Sons, Patented, Chicago-Steger ILL USA
Hand painted floral design with magnificent colors, circa early 1900’s. Harp shaped cutout in front of the horn and it still plays beautifully. This was the top of the line at it’s time, and is an outstanding hand crank phonograph.

Re: hand-painted off-brander
Not Bad! The arm isn't anything special but Steger & Sons was a piano maker (as were many of the off brands) and could build a nice solid case. The decoration looks far above average.

Re: hand-painted off-brander
The painting looks a little extreme, but beautifully executed. Hopefully it looks at least this well in person.

Re: hand-painted off-brander
Not to be the perennial wet blanket, but you all better make note of the seller's address and phone numbers before the ad is flagged and pulled, since it violates the craigslist terms of usage:
I'd imagine Craigslist doesn't allow auction postings since they are partly owned by eBay.Can I put a link in my for sale posting pointing to an auction site like ebay?
No - craigslist is not an auction site. If you have something to offer, please post a set price. Please do not scalp or solicit bidding contests on craigslist, and do not link to offsite auctions on eBay or elsewhere.

Re: hand-painted off-brander
apparently it's being offered by an auction house/antique mall. the asking price is $2400. seems a little high perhaps, but it's definitely a nice cabinet (machine components are probably generic enough) with paint that seems factory original as well, unless I'm mistaken.

Re: hand-painted off-brander
I wouldn't be sure it's a factory finish- the inside is varnished wood. It's probably top-quality aftermarket work to match a set of furniture or the decor of a room.
