Recent Find - Another Polished Nickel Columbia Type B(XP)

Post by brianu »

I found this polished-nickel Columbia Type B late last year and just got around to cleaning it up... also just recently got the reproducer back from Steve Medved, who rebuilt it with a new glass diaphragm. The horn is a reproduction, but all else is original. I figured I’d post some photos given the recent discussions of these that I’ve read on here... and someone is keeping track of serial numbers as well, right?

You should caution people about viewing the photos without sunglasses. :) Very nice. Jerry Blais

That sure is a really nice machine. Those nickel plated Model B's are real classy. The reproducer you have is for an early Columbia Q. That's a really hard to find reproducer. The reproducer you need would say reproducer on the body. Great find and great job polishing it up.

Thanks for all the comments, they’re appreciated.

And yes, I guess this year would be it’s 120th.

Thanks for the catch... I realized that about the reproducer when I saw the other ones recently posted... so how tough to find would the correct one be?

They are scarce, but they do turn up. If I find any leads, I'll let you know. The Q reproducer you have is equally scarce. Those are worth their weight in gold.
