Another Nickel plating request

I am in need of nickel plating. I looked online but want someone who is recommended.
I searched here and only found one post with a link.
That link is dead sooooo who knows a reliable person/company that can re-plate a tonearm, crank, speed control, Crank guide, and stop mech.
Right now the parts are spray painted or covered in dark polyurethane.

I don't know about prices in the US, but here in Europe, a plating job like this would exceed the value of the machine quite significantly, especially if you don't do the preparation and polishing yourself.

Im not worried about the cost really. I want the player to look as good as it should.
A friend owns a restoration shop for classic cars. He has a guy who does nickel plating. Hopefully he can help.

I will still take recommendations just in case it falls through.

It might be worth searching for chrome plating, as proper chrome plating is a layer of copper, then nickel and then chrome.

If they are smaller parts there are a couple of threads on this forum on nickel plating. Most of the work is in the preparation so that can save you a nice amount on that. It seems to not be super hard after prep work. I have never tried it so I am not knowledgeable about doing it but there was a video to show how it was done. Good luck. Having that done is nice but expensive. It is getting harder and harder to find chrome shops due all the EPA regulations on the chemicals. Tom

Some years ago I bought a kit from Caswell and had very good results plating small parts myself. There was even a solution that you just boil on the stove without having to set up with electrodes.

The Victrola Repair Service of Saint Johnsbury Vermont did some nickle plating for me about 10 years ago. I was restoring an Edison Standard 'A' and some of the parts had minor pitting issues. Rod Lauman decided that not buffing the parts to a full bright shine should work well and I was very happy with the results. Rod will discuss the desired outcome with you before doing the work. The price was fair as well.
