I recently purchased a Star phonograph(1920's) that needs cabinet repairs. Is there a source for the decal on the inside lid? Also could use a source for the walnut trim that goes around the perimeter of the lid.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

'Star', or 'Starr'?

There are several Starr decals available from piano trade suppliers. Search "fallboard decals" .

No, I'm not. I was just attempting to double-check the OP's spelling. I know I have a reputation in these parts for being picky about words and spelling, but this is a perfect example of why that matters. The only 'Star' that I'm aware of is the earlier Hawthorne & Sheble marque.

If you can obtain a really good photograph of the correct decal from another collector, Greg Cline can make you a superb reproduction decal. Jerry Blais

The OP mentioned the lid, so I'd guess it's a Starr. I believe that all Star Talking Machines were outside horn models. There's a nice one profiled on this page: http://phonautographist.blogspot.com/se ... Phonograph

Actually, there was a $200 "Starola" and a $250 "Starola Grand" available after December 1908. I know of only one survivor - - a "Starola Grand" owned by Jasper Sanfillipo.Ortho_Fan wrote:I believe that all Star Talking Machines were outside horn models.

I wonder what happened to the OP?

I did mean Starr. So that was alot of good information. Some things I would not have learned had I not forgot the other r in my excitement. The knowledge of the history of these machines just amazes me.I know very little about alot but alot about very little. This is my first adventure with phonograph after wanting one for 35 years.
