john and david,
you may want to quickly act on this one and just ban this idiot before the same b.s. happens here as has happened elsewhere (a flood of meaningless and redundant postings from this person, who I believe is just intentionally trying to screw around with these boards and the people who belong to them).

Freddy,
You've been told over & over that your paramount machine is not what you insist it is. Even if it is a Garrard no.1 motor, this is not an American Paramount machine. It is an English made machine from the mid to late 1920's.
There were numerous "Paramount" companies over the years.
Here are 3 different "Australian" Paramount labels, and I'm sure England had their fair share of Paramount companies as well.
All COMPLETELY UNRELATED to the USA Paramount company.

OH MY GOD...
seriously, don't respond to anything on this thread as it will just encourage the idiot who calls himself freddy (some of you already know the poster's actual identity... and I know this is all a joke, but really, it's just lame, old and been done before)... I'm already sorry that I wrote something here.
THIS THREAD JUST NEEDS TO BE LOCKED NOW BEFORE THIS ALL STARTS AGAIN...
and is it not odd that "freddy" decided to post here rather than the other board that spun off of the original sonoraman board? I'll try not to speculate too much about that.

Don't worry Brian, I totally agree that this thread should be locked & the person stopped from posting again. The link to his video says it all.
I just thought if people are going to click on the thread, they may as well have something real to look at.

Out of curiosity, whom is this "Freddyboy" supposed to be? The voice doesn't sound like anyone I've met in the phono field. I did like that Black Swan Ethel Waters disc he depicted in his vid!!

I seem to recall that Dan on the other board thought Freddyboy was one of the guys who are now behind this board. Yet another error in his thinking.

Actually, he indicated that Freddyboy was some collective project between 5 members of this board, if I remember correctly, and even published an IP for Freddyboy, from the same internet service provider that Freddyboy continues to use (a residential cable connection).
So if any of the alleged people were actually pretending to be Freddyboy, they were doing a good job to be posting from somewhere else.

Freddyboy: I think that you might get better results in people taking you seriously if you used
YouTube instead of
stupidvideos.com. Like gramophoneshane posted above, there were quite a few Paramount companies, which were utterly unrelated, and I think that a lot of what you discussed elsewhere (while encouraged by certain people) did not have any basis in reality.
I attempted to watch your video (which, when it merged your techno background and the record you were playing, finally convinced me to give up on it). It’s really hard to tell what you are talking about with regards to the sounds of the machine with background soundtrack audio, and if you actually want input, you might consider re-encoding the video without the background music.
I do not think that your brake operates too quickly—check this video out for a comparison:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuPnwCtgNMM
I would suggest you watch from at least 3:10 until the machine stops—since the brake is very clearly shown at that angle, you can see it trip and how quickly the turntable comes to a complete stop.
I realize that this is a Victor Granada (4-4), and not the machine that you have, but you still might be able to reference how the brake works on a Victor machine to judge whether your brake is working properly.
Hope this helps.
