Edison phonograph music box

I was looking through the mmd mechanical music digest and saw an Edison phonograph music box add that I think was made prior to 1900. Does anyone have more information or a machine of this type?

Without seeing the advertisement, it's difficult to answer intelligently, but I've never heard of such a thing. Regina & Columbia, sure, but not Edison.

It is in "Antique Phonograph Monthly", Vol. XI, No. 1, issue #89,
page 15, which reproduces an ad for "The Edison Phonograph Musical Box".

That old ad uses the term 'musical box' in a very different context from what we think of as a music box. It referred to a wooden case into which the mechanism from an Edison Class M phonograph could be mounted, presumably to a spring motor. It looks a lot like the Greenhill motor, shown in the second edition of "Talking Machine Compendium" by Fabrizio & Paul on page 252. It was considered a handy unit to haul a machine and records around for exhibition.
