I'm looking for an Edison fireside model A, I had one and regrettably sold it, so with a friend going to the US soon, I may see if there's one around he could possibly bring back
Ideally I'd want one with a back bracket (or at least drilled for one)
I put 'project' to hopefully make it a bit more affordable, I don't mind a bit of work, but I'd like to keep original cabinet finish so my only consideration would be half decent finish, but I'm not fussy, as long as it's fairly complete, anything around?
An edison home would work too, if one of those it doesn't need to have the combination attachment, I have one already
cheers

Re: Wanted: Edison Fireside A project
Fireside Model A is in my opinion the best 2 / 4 minute player for the price. The machines are solid and robust. I use mine mostly to play cylinders when not using the Amberola machine.kirtley2012 wrote:I'm looking for an Edison fireside model A, I had one and regrettably sold it, so with a friend going to the US soon, I may see if there's one around he could possibly bring back

That's what I've heard,I was torn between a fireside and a home, but the home can be a bit large and awkward when transporting and shipping, a fireside with cygnet horn would be the one to get I thinkVictrolacollector wrote:Fireside Model A is in my opinion the best 2 / 4 minute player for the price. Which State will your friend be visiting? I can bring a Fireside with Cygnet horn and K Reproducer to the Orlando show in Florida late January.kirtley2012 wrote:I'm looking for an Edison fireside model A, I had one and regrettably sold it, so with a friend going to the US soon, I may see if there's one around he could possibly bring back

They're going to florida though I'm not too sure when in January they are there, they may end up not going, not sure yet, it sounds like an ideal machine, though the whole package may be a bit out of my price rangeHerman wrote:Which State will your friend be visiting? Orlando show is 25-26 Jan. I can also deliver if the dates do not match up if Central FL.kirtley2012 wrote:They're going to florida though I'm not too sure when in January they are there, they may end up not going, not sure yet, it sounds like an ideal machine, though the whole package may be a bit out of my price rangeHerman wrote:Which State will your friend be visiting? Machine is 100% all original. The finish on the cabinet is not the greatest as it was stored in an attic for a few decades, but the Edison decal is still in place. I bought it from the original family. The seller was the granddaughter of the original owner. She never heard it play as it had a broken main spring. I put in a replacement spring and tuned it up. Took it back to her and played a few cylinders for her. She was just trilled beyond belief, i had to pack it up quickly and get out of there
If interested I can upload some pictures.

Thanks Herman
Sounds like an excellent machine but out of price range I think, at the moment I think I'll be look for the machine itself, look for a cygnet horn and things at a later date

I did see that, I'm watching it on eBay, I'll see what it goes for, though the collection only right at the bottom of the country may prove troublesome

A project edison home would work fine too, one with a regular 2 minute setup would work as I have a home combination mandrel I could switch out
