For Sale: HMV 5A soundbox with meltope rubber

Post by kirtley2012 »

a good HMV 5A soundbox, fitted with a rubber back from an EMG/Meltrope type soundbox to fit any smaller bore tonearm, though I'll include the original rubber back, it has become hardened however

Kirtley,

Will this fit a phonograph with the Exhibition soundbox?

A Victrola No. 4 isolator will fit the box and your tonearm. Doesn't look like this one is the right diameter and there's no locating pin.

It will fit yes, there isn't a locating pin but it will fit snugly on the tonearm and just have to set the angle manually

When I first acquired my EMG Mark IX, I used an HMV 5A soundbox until I rebuilt the original soundbox. The results were surprisingly good. I now am using a Meltrope III since one of the springs on the EMG soundbox broke.

Hello, kind sir. Is this soundbox still for sale? And if so would it fit my Decca 10 tonearm?
