Did the Victor Talking Machine Co. market musical instrument

Post by Django »

I saw a guitar listed with a late 1920s decal on the head. I assumed that someone stuck a label on a cheap guitar, but there was a paper label in the body that said Victor and included the His Master’s Voice trademark and said Victor Classic Guitar. It is probably just a scam, but being a collector as well as a player, I had to ask.

Not that I know of. Probably just someone slapping a decal on it.

The Victor company never got into making any musical instruments. RCA Victor did, years later.

I have added a picture of the label. Kind of a strange thing to fake, but people do strange things. It would be easy enough to make a label these days. It is just a strange choice.

I've seen one of these guitars in the flesh. Completely genuine, but not a high-quality instrument.
