Congratulations Shane. I've only seen a couple of Berliner discs in the flesh over the past 30 years or so--prized possessions in private collections. Can't wait to see a video of these playing.

(OT to this string, but how are you coming along with your Rexonola 60 Prismaphonic? Looking forward to seeing a video soon!)

Congrats on the Berliner! I picked up three 9" Zonophone discs today -- one embossed, two paper label (one brown shellac) for $5 apiece. Also, a few decent DD's for $2 each, and several good late electrical 78's on Grey Gull, Supertone, Challenge, etc. for $1 a copy.

Congrats on the Ebay score! I was wondering can those be played on regular steel needle
phonographs at 78 rpm? I like the really ancient records and those are as old as dirt!

They were made to played with a steel needle, but it's not a good idea. The shellac is a lot softer than normal 78's, so most people tend to play them on modern equiptment only. I made up a front mount crapophone to play mine with, and sort of balanced things out to make it quite light at the soundbox, but I doubt I've played any of mine more than 6 times.
The speeds seem to be all over the place. I cant quite remember now, but I think most of mine play at about 65-70rpm.

It was finished a couple days after I last posted about it, but then I started on an HMV upright, and it's been in various stages of repair, sitting in front of the Rexonola ever since
I'll try & clear a (temperary) path in front of it & do a video in the next day or 2.

I know what you mean, I have to put my machines in four corners of my house so I can
still walk. :D
