Zon O Phone/ Gramophone conflict

Post by fmblizz »

Received my June copy of the APS today and was reading the article about the conflict between Gramophone and Zon- O- Phone.

It was interesting to see the advertisement for Zon-O-Phone on page 24 stating that it was a substitute for the Gram-O-Phone which is abandoned, including it's name.

I have a copy from December 1900 of the weekly journal SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. On the very last page there is a 4X4 inch ad from United States Gramophone Company, E. Berliner, President, which states that's law suits have been entered against Zon-O-Phone and dealers as well as users are WARNED against buying the Zon-O-Phone machines as they can make themselves liable for heavy damages..
