How Do You Tell The Difference, Tungs-Tone Needles
We found an unmarked bag full of scores of unused Tungs-tone needles. Is there an easy way to tell which are Soft Tone, Full Tone Etc?

The tungsten tip is the same for all three types, but the shank varies in size: thicker for loud tone--about comparable with a loud tone steel needle, slightly thinner for a medium tone needle, and relatively skinny for a soft tone needle.
Maybe someone will post some photos comparing the various types.

Like OF says. Here's a page from the old Nipperhead site.

Okay, so I measured the skinny part of the shank with a micrometer and found the following: .022, .025, .028 and .031 diameters. Plus a few that had no skinny part at all. So, with five different shank designs, would that be Soft, Medium, Loud, Extra Loud and Ultra Loud?
