Is this crane missing a section?

Post by stetam »

Picked up a Edison home phonograph last night for a good price and included was these crane sections. Anyone know what type of crane, is it missing a section? What mount would be correct?

With all respect, this looks to me like the top section of a floor crane for a front mounted horn. What I believe is needed is the three legged (tripod looking) lower section. I have many of this type in my collection and this one looks similar to several of my floor crane top sections. It's tough to gauge the size of this crane section with this picture. It could be for a larger horn or a smaller one.

Doug - you are almost certainly correct. I will edit my post accordingly to avoid future confusion.

That makes sense. Also at the auction was a large horn, prob 3 ½'. The crane measures 17" between hook and lower bend.

Thank you.
