SOLD: Edison Standard A w/Horn & Crane (NEW PRICE): $450

Post by phonogfp »

This is the second of four antique phonographs I'm selling for a friend.

This machine can be delivered by me to the Wayne NJ show on Oct. 12 & 13. I can also bring any machines to the Union show in June 2020. I have a number of friends who travel pretty regularly, and we can probably make arrangements for delivery through them as well.

This is an early example (December 1902) of an Edison Standard Model A in the 1901 "New Style" cabinet. It is in fine working condition. The carriage retains the small wheel which rides along the straight-edge (a characteristic which was soon dropped). The Model C Reproducer (#84756) carries the adjusting arm, and is likely original to this machine.

The banner decal is in nice condition, as can be seen from the photos. The bedplate pinstripes were re-done about 10 years ago.

This machine comes with a pretty blue flower horn from the Tea Tray Company. Although best known for its horns with scalloped petals, Tea Tray manufactured horns with conventional petals as well, as seen in this example. The outside of the horn shows age, but its decals are in good shape and the horn presents well. The inside of the horn is very nice.

Finally, an original Hawthorne & Sheble No.5 horn crane is included. This is perhaps the most popular of the aftermarket cranes, and can be adjusted to support virtually any horn of less than 36" length. These cranes usually bring around $200 alone.

Click the images twice to enlarge. Thanks for looking.
