WANTED: Victor Speed Indicator & Crank Escutcheon

Post by phononut »

Hello All

I am hoping someone can help me complete my HMV 32. These are both generic Victor & Victrola parts. I am seeking both in nickel. Perhaps someone has a motorboard they can pull this off, or something in the parts drawer. Willing to pay of course a reasonable price.

-Speed Indicator (whole assembly)

-Generic Victrola crank escutcheon

Many thanks
Brad

The speed indicator is indeed identical to the common Victor Part. The crank escutcheon, on the other hand, is not.

Remember that the HMV model 32 has a sloped side. This machine uses a crank escutcheon that accounts for the sloped side this was a standard HMV part because they're run older series of open horn machines made from 1922 or so onward used sloped side cases.

Unfortunately no us made machine did. A Heinemann escutcheon with the fiber insert may be made to work until the right English part comes along, and they may be had with the same mounting screw spacing as the Victor Part.

Uncle Vanya,

Thank you very much. I would have never considered this.

I would assume this part is very scarce. Perhaps I can take a more commonly found Victor escutcheon and cut off the “tube” part attached, if necessary drill out the crank hole, and that would be appropriate at least aesthetically for the machine.

If anyone has anything like this, please do let me know. Perhaps I can somehow make it work. I am also still seeking the window type speed control

Phononut,

Yes the speed control parts do match as I’m working on the same issues with my HMV #32.

Original HMV on the left Victrola on right.

Regards,

Glenn
