Request any info regarding these Edison DD record cases

Hello!
I picked these two record cases up awhile back, and haven't been able to find anything like them doing internet research.

Judging by the attached emblem they were made by the William Bal Company of Newark NJ.
I once saw an Edison dealer shipping case with the same manufacturer emblem. It resembled a film-reel case, of what appeared to be the same material. That case held maybe 5 to 10 discs and was closed by web straps, and was apparently used to send demo discs back and forth from the company to dealers.

Also, the lock assembly is the of the same manufacturer as the hardware for my Army-Navy machine:
"Corbin Cabinet Lock Company" of New Britain, Conn.

One case has the Edison script logo, and the other hasn't
One has an "S" stenciled on the top, and the other is marked "Car"

Has anyone any information about these? I think they're pretty cool!

Are they sectioned off inside, or just one open space?
I've never seen anything like them marked Edison before, but they obviously are.

The cases are open in the inside, with cloth lining. Here's a pic:

These were full of Edison discs, ranging from the proper etched-label WWI era tunes into early black paper label ones. They're wide enough to accomodate the discs in paper sleeves
I suppose they could have transported film reels. I don't know what the standard reel size was for the era.
Any more ideas?

Huh! Ya think? And I hadn't noticed earlier the number "5" underneath too.
The printing actually looks to be glue residue from applied letters that have rubbed or fallen off.
