Early McCormack Odeon recordings

Post by Inigo »

Yesterday in another thread it was unveiled something I didn't know, about early Odeon McCormack recordings published later by Columbia. I discovered that one of the records recently purchased from Eddie Dunn at Malvern was one: La Fleur/Celeste Aida, with original ODEON mx nos Lxx 3138 and 3173 readily seen under the label, with McCormack signature and other symbols, probably German engineer Winkler acronym among them. Also seen in the runout area were two numbers seemingly the Odeon side numbers 84225 & 84236.
Any kind soul can verify these Odeon numbers and give a probable date of recording? The Columbia is No 863. Columbia also assigned their own mx (control) numbers 74287 and 74288 to these sides. See http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 17#p249500 for more details and photos of both labels.

The John McCormack Society has a swell discography for you to avail yourself of...

The sides in question were recorded in 1909.
