POLL: It's Picnic Time........Which to take along ????
Well,it's the roaring 20's and you are about to go on a "hot date" by hosting a picnic for two.To improve the mood you will take along your "pocket" phonograph to impress your potencial prospect. So,of the three choices you can make. Are you the hard working "Peter Pan" type of person?.The up with the latest gizmo "Miki" guy?.Or,the well heeled money in pocket "Colibri" man?.

It's almost the 4th of July and my date and I have always enjoyed my Gem Model B with 2&4 minute gearing. It plays through my Stars & Stripes Forever BA with just a little to spare. Life is good! Jerry Blais

well, those three machines, especially in that condition, are great finds now, but if it were back then, I'd definitely go for something a bit more substantial, impressive and loud... either a VV-50 or 35, unless of course an HMV could be borrowed from one of those british expats from the other side of town.

Yes,I know there are many "better" machines that one could have taken on the picnic. However, you only have these three "pocket" machines to choose from.Myself, being a disc man.A V-V 50 would be my choice for a suitcase model.Out of the three "pockets" I would be all I can be and go with the Colibri but, then I would want to travel to the picnic in my Stutz!!!!!

Out of those three I'd definitely definitely go for the Mikiphone! It sets out to impress with its ingenious compact mechanism and ultra-portability. You can almost slip it into your pocket and pull it out as the ultimate surprise. LOL!
Okay, by the time you've put it all together your date will be getting bored and won;t want to hear the records anymore. Mind you, on a Mikiphone that's probably a good thing!

I'm going to address practicality rather than ethics. The Colibri and Mikiphone are both beauties- don't take them out and risk getting mustard smears on them. Sacrifice the Peter Pan.
Or do the right thing and get a beat up Excelda for picnics.

Given those 3 choices, my vote would be the Colibri.
But my ultimate preference would be something a bit more substantial like an HMV 101 or 102.

Well,I know it's early in the poll but,the Colibri has taken a slight lead on the other two "pockets".I guess we all would like to appear well heeled to our future other.

OK, if I have to follow the rules then I'll pick the Mikiphone. Tons of fun from a tiny package. Jerry
