I wanted to report that we had a successful Indy Record Bash this last weekend. I met many new friends and a lot of records changed hands. A and Attendees and vendors came from as far away as West Virginia, Milwaukee, WI and Connecticut.
Andy, Schumm, Peter Ho and Dave Bock among other professional musicians participated in the hot jazz sessions. Joe Bussman for Cincinnati area presented many Vitaphone films from his vast collection. The most fun are the rlate night record spin where participants bring there favorute records to share with others.
Next years Indy Record Bash will be on January 15th & 16, 2021. Plan on breaking away from those winter blues and come to the Midwest for a hot time!
Best regards,
Carlton Smith

A Record Show You Will Like…continues!
Since 1986, the hottest music has shattered the coldest temperatures in Indiana every January, and once again the tradition continues! There will be merriment, music, dancing and more records than you can shake a stick at!
Special note: This year the Bash will be advertised locally and to the public, surrounding area phonograph collectors as well as swing dance societies.
So please, make your plans right now to happily emerge from your wintertime solitude, because:
YES VIRGINIA!
THE INDY RECORD BASH IS COMING BACK TO INDIANAPOLIS FOR ITS 33rd YEAR!
When: Held at the Indianapolis Waterfront Hotel, the next Bash will occur on January 10th and 11th, 2020. Our contract starts on the 9th for those wishing to arrive early to set up and/or say warm hellos to good friends. Check-in on Thursday starts at 3PM and checkout on Sunday is 11AM.
Where: The Waterfront Hotel and Conference Center: (317) 299-8400. 2930 Waterfront Parkway W. Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46214. See driving directions! Rooms are $72 each (double or single) plus 17% tax per night. Bring pals, share a room, and save some money! Our block of rooms will be reserved until Christmas, but our room rate will still be available! Be sure to mention you will be attending the Bash to get your discount!
What: In its customary grand style, the 2020 Indy Record Bash will feature the sale of everything money can buy including records, CD’s, books, posters, sheet music, instruments, photographs, phonographs and audio equipment! The agenda will be loose and free-flowing with healthy allowances of film viewings, record and trivia quizzes (there will be some lucky prize-winners!), and hot jam sessions to keep us warm in the wintertime chill. To top off everyone’s fun, there will be late-night record spinning sessions held until the last person is awake!
It is in the memory of great friends and fellow music enthusiasts that we meet, “like boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past,” as Fitzgerald wrote. To quote Bash founder Duncan Schiedt, “People might relish a weekend of warm fellowship, with music and camaraderie dispelling the doldrums that usually occur [in January].”
My name is Carlton Smith and this will be my first time hosting the Indy Bash after the pause in 2019 and Jack Garrison’s very successful events in 2016-2018 before his big move to Texas. I trust that there will continue to be an influx of new faces during the event and that it will continue to grow and flourish! In fact this year the Bash will be advertised locally where possible, on Facebook record and phonograph related pages and surrounding antique phonograph societies.
Directions: The Indianapolis Waterfront is located just off of Indiana 136, see the driving directions on the next page, and don’t be afraid to reach out and ask if you need help getting there! After getting off the highway, follow the signs for 136 West towards Clermont and turn north at the Waterfront Parkway stoplight. You can’t miss it! We certainly hope you can’t, anyway! Be sure to check out a map as needed!
This year there will be a $20 fee for vendors to set up (1- 2 tables), and an admission fee of $15 of all other people attending the sale and event. (vender’s fee includes admission fee)
Venders: Please email me to at [email protected] reserve your tables.
-Thank you-

Re: FOR SALE: Indy Record Bash this week Friday & Saturday!!
I have attended this event in the past and found it well-staffed and well-organized with ample attendance and selection.
The long-range weather forecast indicates little chance of inclement weather, snow or ice. Other attractions are nearby and worthy of visit, to name a few:
