Help: Question on Value of Victor XVI

Post by rgordon939 »

Looks like a nice Victor XVI. My question is if it worth $500 without the albums. Serial number is 27786C.

In my opinion the answer is yes, it's worth $500 without the albums. Many of the parts are horn machine parts so at $500 there's the risk that it's worth more as parts. I'd hate to see that happen.

I was thinking the same. I would hate to see it patted out as well. I value things by what they are worth to me. I would pay $500.00 for that machine if I was looking for another L door XVI.

Yes, I’d hate to see it broken up for parts as well. I have a very similar XVI that I got a couple of years ago without the motor board and turntable. Someone must have pulled the motor for another machine. It took me a while to find everything to complete it. I was very lucky to find a VTLA in decent shape with albums (although it does have some loose veneer I need to reglue) for $150 a couple of months ago, so now the two machines share space in adjoining rooms.

How the market has changed. I paid $750 for my L-door in very nice condition back in 2010. And I thought that was "reasonable" at the time!

I couldn't agree more. Nice L-door models used to bring at least $750.
