Homemade tool for adjusting Edison DD rpm.

Post by marcapra »

Occasionally someone asks how to adjust the speed on DD machines after they stopped putting speed controls on the motor board. My phonograph tech made a spanner wrench tool using a piece of scrap metal and a Dremel tool. This was for adjusting an Edisonic machine. On an Edisonic, the horn is very low, so there is ample room for your hand to get in there. On a pre-Edisonic DD machine, the horn is very high, so when I had to adjust the control for my Italian Umbrian IU-19, I bent the end 90 degrees for easier access. The metal piece we used is ⅜" wide. A little over ¼" was dremeled out from the middle. Now you can adjust the rpm on your Edison DD machines with ease.

You gotta love the ingenuity of a tinkerer. This would be a good tool to have. I have made a number of one time use tools also.

Please consider making and selling a few of these. I have neither the scrap metal nor the tools to do this myself, so I would be happy to buy one.
