Homemade tool for adjusting Edison DD rpm.
Occasionally someone asks how to adjust the speed on DD machines after they stopped putting speed controls on the motor board. My phonograph tech made a spanner wrench tool using a piece of scrap metal and a Dremel tool. This was for adjusting an Edisonic machine. On an Edisonic, the horn is very low, so there is ample room for your hand to get in there. On a pre-Edisonic DD machine, the horn is very high, so when I had to adjust the control for my Italian Umbrian IU-19, I bent the end 90 degrees for easier access. The metal piece we used is ⅜" wide. A little over ¼" was dremeled out from the middle. Now you can adjust the rpm on your Edison DD machines with ease.

You gotta love the ingenuity of a tinkerer. This would be a good tool to have. I have made a number of one time use tools also.

Please consider making and selling a few of these. I have neither the scrap metal nor the tools to do this myself, so I would be happy to buy one.marcapra wrote:Occasionally someone asks how to adjust the speed on DD machines after they stopped putting speed controls on the motor board.
