I saw that also. It looks to me that the ratchet and pawl might be worn and the clip is holding a wire to put pressure on the pawl to engage it better. It is an easy fix to correct that.

No. The horn is polished brass, as it should be. The motor looks fine. It's the earlier style. (O.K., the governor weights are wrong) Yes, the reproducer should be an Exhibition. A small issue to say the least.

Obviously the horn is brass. I was commenting on the horn elbow. And thank you for clarifying, I had forgotten how the early style motors incorporated office supplies and other such rare jury rigged repairs.

I have no dog in this fight, but might mention that irony and satirical humor simply do not always come across well when being read by a broad audience. While some might have chuckled at Brian’s response, you took offense, which is also fully understandable. Where I was raised, in the heart of Brooklyn, we thrived on this kind of humor.
It’s taken me 72 years to finally come to grips with this and I try to keep my own wisecracks strictly between select friends, although a few pop up now and then in spite of myself.
