Sad News

Post by phonogfp »

I am posting this on behalf of two of John's many friends:

We are saddened to advise of John Woodward's passing of natural causes last Friday. John was a visionary with a passion for antique phonographs, their history, preservation, and place in society. He had been collecting phonographs for over 40 years. John was one of the founders of the California Antique Phonograph Society (now the Antique Phonograph Society),served as its President in its formative years, and provided advice and guidance to those who succeeded him. The funeral will be private; a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time. We are honored to have had John as a friend for these many years.

Sorry to hear this news. John was always quick to welcome me to the CAPS shows as well as the more recent APS Expo. We'll miss John.

Incredibly sad news. John was a real presence in the collecting scene, and obviously was an enthusiastic supporter of the hobby in general.

Oh my this is such sad news. I truly enjoyed my time and conversations with John over the years. What a champion of our hobby. I will be forever heartbroken.

Indeed this is sad news. John and I started collecting about the same time, I think around 1974 or so. We traded parts, machines and information on occasion, and our visit together were always entertaining and informative. I am so sorry to hear this, as I, as well as many others, will miss John. May he Rest In Peace and gather phonographs that made it to Heaven.

I did not know him, but it is always sad to lose a member of the phono family of friends.
