Since we are all sitting in the corner as punishment like a kid who kicked a puppy and shoplifted an entire candy store. I thought I would share a photo of my wife's first machine she bought before we were married. It's a mundane plain Jane machine in American walnut. I've never (as far as I recall) seen a Grafonola with this type of lid release mechanism. It is clearly professionally made, works smoothe as silk and is quite brilliant. You push a button on the front side of the lid as your hand is there typically anyway, and it releases the hinge without any effort. Has anyone seen a Grafonola with this type hinge release or were they an aftermarket product? I can't identify this particular model, it's a low end machine but the mechanism makes it intriguing.
Be safe everyone,

Re: Columbia Grafonola lid release apparatus
Is there a slot in the cabinet where the normal lid support would go through when you close the lid?
